Dearest Dolly,
When I rescued you, you were thin, bedraggled, and terrified, with knotted fur and a fear of people. Over the ten years we were together, you amazed me by learning to trust again. You ended up fluffy and beautiful. You learned to be friendly to those who deserved your affection. You were a brave, loyal and delightful cat who rescued me in turn when my dear dog Betty died and I couldn't cope with the loss. You made me smile again.
I shall miss you every day, for the rest of my life. Your passing has ripped a hole in my heart, but the lessons you taught me about trust will stay with me forever.
